Worship Confessional: February 22nd, 2009

Hey guys,

I’m going to try something new–I used my isight to do a “worship confessional”–basically it’s a video blog where I share some of my thoughts about that morning’s service–what we were trying to do, what went well, what could have gone better. It’s under 5 min, so go ahead and check it out. Let me me know what you think!

Brian Lusky Worship Confessional 2-22-09 from Brian Lusky on Vimeo

Setlist:

Overflow

You’ll Come

How He Loves

Pure & Holy Passion

Band:

Drums–Rob

Bass–Mike M.

Acoustic–Daniel W.

Electric–me

Keys/Piano–Angie

Vocals–Rachel, Christie, me

I felt good about our setlist, even though I think it was hard for some people to get into the first song since it started off more mellow. Usually How He Loves is one that really effects our people, but I always worry that people will tire of repetition, either in song or by singing a lyric over and over. I was really floored by God’s love today as we sang the song, and I got a short note of encouragement from one of our worshipers over Facebook today that told me that she was connecting with God in the same way:

“Thank you so much for leading AWESOME worship this morning. The Lord flooded me with his love!! Thank you for being a willing vessel.”

Just glad I could get out of the way and let God move.

He loves us/oh how he loves us/oh how He loves us/oh how He loves…

This is a part of Fred Mckinnon’s Sunday Setlists blog carnival–check out what other worship leaders were doing this weekend!

  1. Hey! Found you via a comment you left at Steff’s blog (http://steffanieoltmans.blogspot.com). We’re one letter removed, you and I…

Interesting that I only know one song on your list (Pure & Holy Passion). I’m with you on repetition in songs. Makes me a little too self-conscious. Glad to hear that it didn’t come across that way to your people.

Just followed you on Twitter, btw…

  2. Hey Brian,
Thanks a ton for posting this, and for linking out of the “Sunday Setlists” mister linky on my site. Would you consider editing your post to include a link back to the “Sunday Setlists” URL as well which is at:

Thanks - that way people who read here can find the carnival and see the other links, too!

  3. Hey Brian, What a great Idea!

I thought the service as a whole was very sweet. Especially the alter call at then end. I didn’t come forward, but I certainly felt the presence of God.

I didn’t connect with You’ll Come. Perhaps because I’ve never even heard it before. But really, it seemed like something wasn’t quite right. Definitely not the words, it was more the style or perhaps the way it was started. I think most of the songs started with padding, but this one didn’t work out for me.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Yo, just ran across your blog via twitter. Love it dude, i’m following you on twitter and giving you some blogroll love. Good stuff dude.

  5. Loved the worship set except You’ll Come. I felt that it wasn’t adapted properly, but I can see why Rachel liked the song. I read the lyrics and found them meaningful. I look forward to you doing something different with this song next time. Thanks for your work in finding us new ways to praise our Mighty and Holy God. I love Sara Groves too, can’t wait to see what you’re doing.

  6. I absolutely love “You’ll Come”! Great song. “How He loves” is another good one. Sorry to say I haven’t heard the other two but I’ll be checking them out. Have a great week!
